Cruise Packing Tips

Cruise ship cabins can be very small, so try not to overpack.

Every cruise line has their own rules, so make sure to check their websites, but here are some suggestions to get you started.

Bring

  • Magnetic hooks for increased storage space. Great for hanging lanyards, jackets, purses, etc.
  • Adaptors that will charge multiple electronic devices at once. Outlets could be limited.
  • A night light (especially for inside cabins). Some bathrooms have a small ledge as you enter and a correctly placed night light can prevent an injury.
  • Wrinkle-Free spray
  • A hanging toiletry bag. You may not have much counter space in the bathroom.
  • Insulated water bottles
  • Binoculars for trips with potential wildlife sightings.
  • A compact, comfortable backback or shoulder bag that you can take with you when you leave the ship.
  • Plastic baggies

Do Not Bring

  • Surge protectors or extension cords
  • Beach towels - The ship should provide what you need.
  • Alcohol - A small amount might be allowed, so check your cruiselines rules.
  • Travel irons or steamers - Many ships offer pressing services or have guest laundry rooms with irons avaiable for use.
  • Unecessary cash - You shouldn't need cash on board. Everything is charged to your shipboard account.
  • Perishable foods or snacks
  • Drones
  • Cannabis
  • Certain electronics. Some cruiselines have banned items such as bluetooth speakers and baby monitors, so check their websites.
